Submission Guidelines for Book Reviews Submitted to the Trinity Journal

All submissions must follow the SBL Handbook of Style (Billie Jean Collins, et al., eds., The SBL Handbook of Style for Biblical Studies and Related Disciplines (2nd ed.; Atlanta: SBL, 2014).

  • The due dates for submission of book reviews are August 15 for the Fall issue, and February 15 for the Spring issue.
  • The title of the review should be as follows: First and Last Name of the author. Book Title: Subtitle where applicable. City of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Number of Pages. Price.
  • The review should include a descriptive portion that summarizes the main content of the book as well as a brief evaluative part highlighting any strength and/or weakness of the book.
  • Page citation after a quotation should be in parenthesis and should come after the closing quotation mark but before the final punctuation mark. For example: “…the end” (p. 1).
  • Word count should be strictly 1,000 – 1,250 words.
  • Recommended font style is Times New Roman, 12 point size, and single line-spacing.
  • The reviewer’s full name and institutional affiliation should come at the end of the review and aligned to the right.
